Ralph Cooke

June 8, 1924 — October 7, 2015

Canton – Ralph Haynes Cooke, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at The Homestead in Clyde. A native of Haywood County and an Army Veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theater, he was the son of the late Talmage and Annie Haynes Cooke. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Cooke, and a daughter, Judith Shook. Ralph is survived by one daughter, Jill Lytle and her husband, Greg, of Horse Shoe; two sons, Roger Cooke of Rosman and Randy Cooke of Brevard; two sisters, Phyllis Mitchell and Barbara Macon; one brother, Bobby Cook; ten grandchildren, Erin Shade, Daneya Shook, Chris, Patrick, Brandon and Nathan Cooke, Nyla Dodson, Caitlyn Rainwater, Caleb McCall and Carrie Prada; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Jack Holland and Reverend Dr. Perry Brindley officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 9 at Wells Funeral Home in Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Building One, Asheville, NC 28801.
