Maggie Valley, Ralph Wallace, age 80, of Riverside Villa, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2012 at The Homestead. A native of LaFollette, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Adrian and Nell Ivy Wallace. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Grey Walker Wallace, who died this year; one daughter, Debra Lynn Riche; and a son, Steven Ralph Wallace. He was a former mayor of Maggie Valley as well as former owner of Wards Superette and Ralph's Grocery and most recently was working in sales with Mountain Sweets Candy Company. He was an avid supporter and fan of the University of Tennessee and a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church. There were no boundaries to Ralph's love and devotion to family and friends and to know him was an honor. He is survived by a daughter, Dawn Womack and her husband, Steve, of Buford, Georgia; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Maple Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. James Mackey and Reverend Kelley R. Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Marion and Neil Ferguson, Scott Sutton, Cabe Carver, Frank Dunham, Al Matthews, Joe Davis, and Winston Kilgore. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Memorials may be made to MedWest Haywood Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
