Randy Pope

"1958 - 2018"

Canton - Randy Carroll Pope, 59, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Donald Nelson Hooper and Barbara Ann Smathers Pope. Randy was a United States Marine veteran having received his military training in Parris Island and stationed in Guam for two years. Randy was a lifetime member of East Fork Baptist Church. He attended seminary at Southeast Baptist Theological Seminary. Randy was a missionary in Sendai, Japan. He was a former pastor at Grandview Baptist Church and was a past member of the Baptist Association. He was a former volunteer fire fighter with Cruso Volunteer Fire Department and was currently a board member of the Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ann Saraceno Pope; a daughter, Anna Carroll Pope; two sisters, Debra Moore and Donna Hooper Parton; two brothers, Craig Pope (Georgiann) and Terry Pope; his father-in-law, Donald D. Saraceno, of the home; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at East Fork Baptist Church with the Reverend Mark Tice, Reverend Johnny Foster and Reverend Toss Smathers officiating. Inurnment will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
