World War II Veteran Clyde – Ray Floyd Bolden, age 87, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Fidille and Gussie Burday Bolden. He was also preceded in death by his wife Mattie Justice Bolden who died in 2008. He worked at Champion International Pasadena, Texas plant from 1952 until he returned in the 1970's where he owned and operated the Conoco Service Station on Carolina Blvd. in Clyde. Ray was a United States Army veteran serving in the European Theater during World War II. He attended Crossroads Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Juanita and Don Brady of Waynesville; a sister, Blanche Norris of Canton; two granddaughters Kathryn Bickford and her husband, William and Laura Brady and her husband, Kevin Williams; and four great-grandchildren, Katie, Paul and John Bickford and Emma Williams. Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Clyde with the Reverend Carrol Lindsey officiating.
