Ray Burnette

Ray Manley Burnette, age 76, of Dutch Cove Road died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late Manley Eldon and Ona Pressley Burnette. Ray loved Dale Earnhardt, NASCAR racing and was an avid Pisgah High School football fan. He was a member of Canton Lions Club. He was a graduate of Mars Hill College and served as a member of the Haywood County Consolidated Schools Board of Education, a member of the Masonic Lodge AF&AM and was a United States Army veteran He is survived by a son, Steven Burnette and his wife, Brenda of Charlotte; a daughter, Becky Robinson and her husband, Gary of Canton; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Michelle Burnette and Stacey and Kyle Robinson and his girlfriend, Bernice Callaway of Asheville. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2006 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Doug Love officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United States Army. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
