Canton-Ray McDonald Haley, age 84, died Thursday, August 14, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was a son of the late Mac and Annie Garren Haley and was also preceded in death by three sisters; Ruth Haley, Edith Haley, Betty Sue Haley and one brother; Buddy Haley. He was a member of West Canton Baptist Church and was a member of the Canton VFW Post 5198. Mr. Haley was a United States Army Veteran of World War II in the 30th Signal Company and also retired as a technician with the North Carolina Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Oberia Raines Haley of Canton, one daughter; Sharon Blankenship of Canton, one son; Dennis Haley and his wife Darlene of Canton, one brother; Junior Haley of West Jefferson, OH, 7 grandchildren; Keeta Blankenship, Andrew Blankenship and his wife Amy, Ryan Blankenship, Anna Haley, Annie Bryant, Jason Haley and his wife Meredith, Jocelyn Queen and her husband Lance and 2 great-grandchildren; Lelia Haley and David Queen.
Funeral Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2003 at the West Canton Baptist Church with Reverend James Huey officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 33 Haley Lane, Canton, NC 28716. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the 30th Signal Company.
