"1943 – 2017" Clyde – Paris Ray James, 73, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Paris E. and Amanda Lee Lindsey James. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Ann Jones James; one sister, Jewel J. Swanger; a son, Michael James; and two infant children, Danny Garfield and Deborah Ann James. Ray was a plumber and a long time employee for Imoco. He was an avid fisherman and loved to watch NASCAR. Ray's most important treasure was his family. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Vivian Penland James; a daughter, Lisa Michelle Pressley of Waynesville; three sons, Mark Dewayne James, Paris Alan James of Cruso, and Bobby Ray James of Clyde; two step-daughters, Sherri James Duvall of Kingport, Tennessee and Pamela James Gravel of Canton; one step-son, Terry Jerome James of Clyde; one sister, Mary Pressley of Candler; one brother, David Howard James of Clyde; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. At Ray's request, no services will be held.
