Ray Pressley

March 22, 1914 — June 19, 2004

Canton - Ray Gerald Pressley, age 90, formerly of Canton died Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Brunswick Community Hospital. He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late Shirley C. and Celia E. Inman Pressley. He retired from Champion International with 35 years of service where he worked in shipping and receiving. He was a long-time member of Canton First Baptist Church in which he served as a deacon. In addition to his wife of 67 years, Emma Lee Breedlove Pressley, he is survived by a daughter, Glenda Lovelace and her husband, Dan of Virginia Beach, VA; a son, Dr. Kevin Pressley and his wife, Darlene of Supply, NC; four grandchildren, Tim Lovelace and his wife, Esther of Northfield, MN, Hannah, Grace, and Luke Pressley of Supply, NC; a sister, Thelma McCall of Marysville, CA; two brothers, James C. and S. C. Pressley, Jr., both of Franklin and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2004 at Canton First Baptist Church with the Dr. Reverend Rick Gosnell officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 2:45 p.m. prior to the services at the church. Memorials may be made to Canton First Baptist Church, 74 Academy Street, Canton, NC 28716 or to Alzheimers Disease Association, Western Carolina Chapter Mountain Region Office, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville, NC 28801-2644.
