Ray Robinson

Ray Sterlin Robinson, age 96, died Monday, December 29, 2008 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Aston and Maude Dover Robinson. He was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Robinson; and one sister, Helen Robinson Dillingham. Ray was a graduate of Canton High School Class of 1934 and retired from Champion International with 41 years of service where he was invited to go to electrical school and graduated after three years of training. He retired as an old filter plant operator and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canton. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Florence Yates Robinson; and two nephews, Charles and Dover Dillingham. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2008 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Austin officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-a-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
