Ray Whitted

Canton-Ray Reeves Whitted- 75, of 170 Buckeye Cove Road, went home to be with the Lord Friday, January 10, 2003 at his residence after an extended illness.

He was a native of Buncombe County and had lived most of his life in Haywood County. He was a son of the late Robert and Elza Owenby Whitted and was the husband of the late Louise Young Whitted who died in 1987. He retired from Champion International in 1987 with 42 years of service. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and was a Navy Veteran serving during WWII.

He is survived by one daughter, Wanda Donaldson and her husband Ron of Canton; one son Robert Whitted and his wife Donna of Griffin, Ga.; one sister, Marie Hall of Taylors, SC; four grandchildren, Jason Whitted of Charlotte, Daniel Donaldson of Clyde, Aaron Donaldson and his wife Katie of Waynesville and Laura Donaldson of Canton; one great-grandchild, Jacob Donaldson and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2003 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Pastor Bruce Cayton officiating.
Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Ray's memory to Oak Grove Baptist Church Future Mission Trips, 39 Robinson Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
