Raymond Frederick

August 15, 1917 — January 8, 2005

Waynesville-Raymond Elmer Fredrick, age 87, of 197 White Oak Road, died Saturday, January 8, 2004 at his residence. A native of Newark, New Jersey he had lived most of his life in Hialeah, Florida and had lived in Haywood County since 1983. He was the son of William A. and Caroline Egger Fredrick and was also preceded in death by his wife, Clara Wilma Wiedemann Fredrick who died in 1975; and two brothers, William and Charles Fredrick. He was a retired Appliance Technician who worked for General Electric for 28 years and was a disabled Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed raising tropical fish that were shipped throughout the world. He also enjoyed woodcarving, stained glass, and growing many things. He was a mason and member of the Eau Claire Lodge No. 344 in Columbia, SC. He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Ann Brick and her husband, Barry, of Palm Coast, Florida and Kathryn Gayle Bartlett of West Columbia, SC; two sons, Raymond E. "Ed" Fredrick and his wife, Gail, and James T. Fredrick and his wife, Laura, all of Davie, Florida; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a devoted friend of 25 years, Sarah McNamee. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2004 at Crabtree United Methodist Church with Reverend Ned Martin officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 14, 2004 at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens in Columbia, SC.
