Raymond Edward Thielke, 86, of Asheville left this world to be with Jesus, and his precious wife, Peggy on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. A native of Swift County, MN, he was the son of the late Gustav and Augusta Schultz Thielke. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Fox Thielke and great-granddaughter, Evelyn.
Ray was a truck driver for most of his life and retired from ABF Trucking. His job fit his personality, supporting his independent spirit, passion for his hobbies, and his playful nature. He enjoyed spending time with his family at every opportunity, exploring nature, water sports, and camping at the lake. He became an expert cabinet maker; his children and grandchildren are the proud owners of his work. His family was his proudest legacy, which will live on long after he is gone.
He is survived by his children, Tim Thielke (Pam), Celia Griffin (Drew), Marie Huff (Keith) and Keith Thielke (Kathy); five grandchildren, Jenny, Jason, Katie (Liam), Matthew (Kathryn) and Samantha (Chad); and one great granddaughter, Adelyn.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2023, in the Wells Chapel of Faith in Candler with Pastor Keith Thielke officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel beginning at 1:00 p.m.
