Clyde-Raymond Henry Thompson-52, of 668 Poplar Cove died December 17, 2002 at his residence.
He was a native of Haywood County and a son of Mary Reno Thompson and the late Hubert Thompson. He was employed by Suburban Propane as a truck driver. Mr. Thompson enjoyed playing the banjo and guitar picking. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War having received a Bronze Star.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 20 years, Tina Boyd Thompson, one son, Shannon Ray Thompson of Leicester, four brothers, Donnie Thompson and his wife Wilma and Jim Thompson, all of Canton, Judd Thompson and his wife Cathy of Clyde and Glenn Thompson and his wife Teresa of Candler and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2002 at Beaverdam United Methodist Church with Reverend Naomi King officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Community Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post #5202 and the American Legion Post #47. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Wells Funeral Homes of Canton. At other times, the family will be at the home of Mary Thompson, 51 N. Main Street, Canton, NC 28716.
