Raynos F. "Ray" Grice, age 64, left his earthly home for his heavenly home on Friday, January 16, 2009, with his family and friends by his side. A native of Henderson County, he was a son of the late Faye Ledbetter. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Charity Pantoja, and a brother, Ralph Grice. Ray was retired from the Town of Waynesville as a water treatment operator and was a member of Sulphur Springs Freewill Baptist Church. He loved to tell jokes and have fun and especially loved his family and extended family. Ray was a former pastor of Camp Branch Freewill Baptist Church. He was always fixing things that were not broken and put a "toggle" switch on them. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Peggy Case Grice; three daughters, Connie Pantoja and her husband, Antelmo, Amanda Caldwell and her husband, Muriel, and Rebekah Grice; five grandchildren, Casey Caldwell, Dakota Grice, Isabel and Carlos Pantoja, and Charlie Caldwell; a sister, Alice Prince; and special member of the family, Tabitha Lackey. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2009 at Sulphur Springs Freewill Baptist Church with Reverend Eddie Trull and Reverend Phillip Wyatt officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the services at the church. Flowers are appreciated, or memorials may be sent to 155 Hyatt Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
