Rebecca Dehart

Lake Junaluska, Rebecca Sue Carver DeHart, age 74, of 135 Ernest Carver Road, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2008 at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest H. and Rebecca Reeves Carver. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill DeHart, who died in 1997. She worked at Buster Brown in Sylva, retiring to take care of her husband and mother until their deaths. Rebecca was a devoted mother and a friend to the community. She was a member of Sulphur Springs Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, Billy DeHart and wife, Bonnie, of Elkton, VA, Eddie DeHart and wife, Gail, of Cherokee, and Joe DeHart of Lake Junaluska; two daughters, Becky DeHart and Bob Henry, of Sylva and Sarah Messer and husband, Doug, of Lake Junaluska; brother Reeves Carver and wife, Pat, of Asheville; brother-in-law, Wolley DeHart and wife, Barbara, of Robinsville; three grandsons, Travis DeHart and wife, Keli, of Travelers Rest, SC, Josh DeHart and wife, Stacey of Knoxville, TN, Ryan DeHart of Cherokee; and three granddaughters, Alesia Messer of Lake Junaluska, Caremon DeHart of Elkton, VA, and Concheta DeHart of Cherokee; and four great grandchildren, Kaleb and Chase Dehart, of Travelers Rest, SC, Addyson Grace Dehart of Knoxville, TN, and Serenity Nicole Jeffrey of Elkton, VA. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Sulphur Springs Freewill Baptist Church with Reverend Phillip Wyatt officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church and at other times, the family will be at 135 Ernest Carver Road. Burial will be on Friday at Jackson Line Cemetery in Swain County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sulphur Springs Freewill Baptist Church, 1273 Sulphur Springs Road, Waynesville, NC 28786 and Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
