Rebecca Green

Waynesville, Rebecca Lena Gunter Green, age 80, of Waynesville, died on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 surrounded by her family. A native of Jonesville, SC, she had resided in Haywood County since the age of 13. She was the daughter of the late James Rufus and Rebecca Burgess Gunter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michele Clayton Hall; four sisters, Mary Ruth Wyatt, Sallie Esslinger, Annie Mae Greene and Bertha Cunningham; two half sisters, Lassie Quinn, and Debra Gunter; one brother, Jim Gunter and two half brothers, Jackie and Bobbie Gunter. She retired in 1995 from Wellco as an inspector after 37 years employment. She is survived by her husband, James Harrison Green; two daughters, Carolyn Clayton and Juanita Garrett and her husband, Gerald, all of Waynesville; one son, Wayne Green and his wife, Jane, also of Waynesville; one brother, Jesse Ray Gunter of Flat Rock, NC; three half brothers, Joe Gunter, John Gunter and David Gunter all of Union Co. SC; three half sisters, Lucy Clark, Peggy Vaughn, and Susan Ward all of Union Co. SC; five grandchildren; Cynthia Knight and her husband , Dale, Tammy Hayes and her husband, John , Bryan Garrett, Travis Green and his wife, Sabrina and Tiffany Green and three great grandchildren, Madelyn Knight, Garrett Knight and Joshua Green. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2008 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jesse Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
