Waynesville - Rebecca Ann Smathers Henry, 63, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 at The Homestead.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late David Lawrence and Velda Walton Smith Smathers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Farris Henry, who died in 2000. Rebecca retired as a lab technician with Haywood Regional Medical Center and loved to sew and craft.

She is survived by two sisters, Lisa S. Frizzell (Larry) of Clyde and Laura Smathers of Elgin, Illinois; two nieces, Micah Silver and Carly Messer; and two nephews, Luke Proffitt and Logan Baker; two great-nieces, Reese and Stella and two great-nephews, Tyson and Ramsey.

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2017 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Locust Field Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
