Rebecca Smith

Brevard – Rebecca "Becky" Ruth Overman Smith, age 65, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. A native of Haywood County, she had lived in Transylvania County most of her life and was the daughter of the late Thurman David and Sarah Louise Baker Overman. Rebecca was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and will be remembered for being incredibly devoted to her family. She cherished her role as wife, mother, and grandmother and served each of her roles with devotion and grace. Above all, she served her Lord daily and loved to attend church services to praise and worship her Savior. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Pastor Roger D. Smith, a daughter Amy Charlene Smith of Brevard; a son, Anthony David Smith and his wife, Leona, of Franklin; two brothers, Michael Overman and his wife, Betty, of Asheville and David Overman of Brevard; five grandchildren, Lauryl Elliott (Matthew), Emily Phillips (Jon), Seth McDuffie, Olivia Smith, and Carson Smith; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Davis Plemmons officiating. Burial will follow at McGaha Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
