Rebecca Stamey

Rebecca Henderson Stamey, age 88, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013 at Autumn Care Nursing Home. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Paul Montgomery and Florence Shelton Henderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Stamey, who died on April 14, 1993 and a brother, Thomas Henry "Bud" Henderson. Rebecca was known for her servant's heart, always helping anyone in need. She was a very active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was involved in helping with the GA's and many other missions and birthday celebrations with Broyhill Children's Home. Rebecca also loved travelling, having visited many states in the US as well as gardening. She is survived by a daughter, Reverend N. Diane Stamey and her husband, Reverend Phillip Hurst, of Tryon; a son, David Ronald "Ronnie" Stamey, Sr., and his wife, Carolyn, of Canton; a brother, Charles M. Henderson and his wife, Joyce, of Morganton; three grandchildren, David R. Stamey, Jr., Stephanie D. Stamey McFalls, and Lori Hurst Crowder; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Reverend Darrell Webb and Reverend Phillip Hurst officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:45 until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
