Regina Rogers

July 4, 1935 — February 28, 2009

Waynesville, Regina Gwen Ferguson Rogers, age 73, died Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Brian Center of Waynesville. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Mark Marion and Lucy James Ferguson. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Ferguson. Regina was a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church where she served as a former youth director. She retired in 1982 as a bank teller from First Union National Bank. She was a member of the Hugh Rogers Chapter of the DAR and loved to play basketball. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bill J. Rogers of Waynesville, a son, Charles William Rogers and his wife Billie of Boone, NC; two daughters, Margaret Ann Rogers and her husband David of Waynesville; Martha Kay Winfrey and her husband Eric of Mechanicsville, VA; a brother, James Ferguson of Clyde and six grandchildren, Brian, Sarah and Maggie Rogers; Rachael, Lauren and Erica Winfrey. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Lolley and Reverend Jimmy Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 196 Rainy Branch Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
