Reginald Cooke

August 2, 1931 — September 27, 2016

Asheville, Reverend Reginald James Cooke, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Givens Health Care Center. A native of Catawba County he was son of the late Fred and Della Foster Cooke. He was also preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Wilkinson Cooke who died in 2010. Reggie served as a District Superintendent in the WNC United Methodist Conference and faithfully served numerous churches for 30+ years throughout WNC. Reggie had a passion and love for music, and creatively incorporated his musical talents within his church services. He was an avid Duke Blue Devils and Boston Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed working in his garden. Reggie is survived by three daughters, Connie Smith, and her husband, Erskine, of Mooresville, NC, Karen Chambers, and her husband, Phillip, of Clyde and Jennifer Dino, and her husband, Charlie, of Roswell, GA; one son, David Cooke, and his wife, Yvette, of Trinity, NC; one sister Deanne Sigmon, and her husband, Jim, of Lincolnton, NC; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Sanford L. Giles, Jr., Reverend Oscar Dowdle and Reverend Ed Hillman officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Christian Growth Center.
