Rena Milam Brown, 84, of Asheville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 9, 2014. A native of Bandana, NC she was the daughter of the late George and Ella Silver Milam. Rena attended the Penland School and graduated from Bryson City High School. She had a great love of country music, often traveling great distances to attend concerts. Rena was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church, prayed and read her Bible daily. While living in New Orleans, she owned and operated Rena's Cantina, where she met many friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Milam and brother, Carl Milam.
Rena is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Leonard Edward Brown; son, Richard (Kathy) Byrd; grandsons, Benjamin (Donna) Byrd and Brandon (Tammy) Byrd; 4 great grandsons, being especially close to Tristan; one great-great grandchild; brother, Robert Milam; brother-in-law, Jim Brown; dear friends, Jean Morgan, Mildred Crowder, Marilyn Phibbs and Joyce Smith.
The family will receive friends for one hour before the service tomorrow. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, February 14th in the Chapel of Faith, Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn with Dr. Billy King officiating and John Greene providing music, Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CarePartners Hospice, PO Box 5779, Asheville, NC 28813 or Beverly Hill Baptists Church, Food Pantry, 777 Tunnel Road, Asheville NC 28805.
