Renate Lowell

Waynesville, Renate Margareta Helena Hamburger Lowell, 69, wife of Dr. Berton A. Lowell, passed away on July 22, 2010. Renate was born February 24, 1941, in Berlin, Germany. Her adventurous life brought her from Germany in 1948 to New York City. Renate, then with her family, moved to South Florida and, upon retirement, relocated to her beloved Waynesville, North Carolina. Renate, a world traveler, is best remembered for her love of cultures, people and nature. Her generosity and desire to befriend, teach and help others exemplifies her open and giving heart. She is survived by her six children Deborah Barth of Mclean, Virginia, Julie Kimmel of Charlotte, North Carolina, Victoria Kimmel of Falls Church, Virginia, David Kimmel, of Arlington, Virginia, Jonathon Lowell of Sutton, Mass chutes, Jennica Lowell of Kailua Kona, Hawaii; seven grandchildren; and her sister, Irene Sullivan and husband Paul Sullivan of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
