Keystone Heights, FL - Reta Hammock McSwain, age 85, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014. A native of Adrian, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Louie Chesley and Claudia Rowell Hammock and was also preceded in death by three brothers. As a faithful servant of God, Reta helped establish Keystone United Methodist Church, in Keystone Heights, Florida. Upon its inception, she was very active with the various women's circles within the church. Reta was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Garden Club of the Lakes. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and building porcelain dolls from scratch. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jack McSwain, of Waynesville; two sons, Jack McSwain, Jr. (Deborah) and Michael McSwain, both of Green Cove Springs, Florida; two sisters, Claudia Pharis, of Fleming Island, Florida and Addie Fordham, of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers Billy Hammock (Sandra), of Tallahassee, Florida and Collin Hammock, of Jackson, Mississippi; two grandchildren, Cynthia Suzanne Tomlinson and Donna Jill Barrow; and two great-grandchildren, Rhiannon Barrow and Brooke Tomlinson. A celebration of Reta's life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Hardage-Giddens Edgewood Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Florida. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
