Waynesville-Reverend Robert L. ''Bob'' Galloway, age 72, of 56 Frank Tucker Road died Tuesday, April 06, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Ransom H. and Myrtle Arrington Galloway. He was also preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Earl Galloway; a sister, Barbara G. Nelson Saunders; and a stepmother, Rosa Galloway.
A Baptist minister since 1971, he had pastored Richland Baptist and James Chapel Baptist in North Carolina; Wilsonville Baptist of Newport, Tennessee and Fellowship Baptist, now known as East Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Jefferson County, Tennessee, which he founded in 1984 and of which he is a member. He was former owner of Calvary Book Room in Waynesville and Christian Book & Photo Shop in Newport, Tennessee. He and his wife, Dorothy, were former house parents at Broyhill Children's Home in Clyde. He was a Korean War Veteran with the 1st Marine Division, and he was a former employee of Champion Papers.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Bridges Galloway; two sisters, Ruth Tucker of Waynesville and Betty Snyder of Hendersonville; and an aunt, Flora Arrington Pendry of Waynesville.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 on Friday, April 9, 2004 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Darrell Webb and Reverend Ricky Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery in Clyde. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 on Thursday at the funeral home and at other times at the residence. Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Nelson, Bill Bradley, Steve Davis, Gary Franks, T. J. Messer, Brandon Mendez, and Phil King.
