"Preacher Bruce" Clyde – Reverend Bruce Dumay Cayton, age 69, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 27, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. A native of Beaufort County, North Carolina, he was a son of the late William and Thelma Cayton. He was a retired pastor having served in his only full time church, Oak Grove Baptist, for thirty-one years. During retirement "Preacher Bruce" traveled for his Lord leading revivals, Bible studies and several interim pastorates. Reverend Cayton served as Chaplain with North Canton Fire Department for twenty-five years. He is survived by his life-time mate of 50 years, Patsy Lanier Cayton; two sons, Brent (Deanna) Cayton and Brian (Rachel) Cayton all of Clyde; three granddaughters, Morgan (Justin) of Canton and Kasey and Candra; two brothers, Harvey (Shelby) Cayton of Jacksonville, Keith (Shelia) Cayton of New Bern; and one sister, Delores (David) Butler of Morehead City. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Calvary Road Baptist Church with the Reverend Mark Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 39 Robinson Road, Clyde, NC 28721 or to Calvary Road Baptist Church Mission Fund, 77 Sutton Loop, Waynesville, NC 28786.
