Reverend Johnson

Waynesville, Reverend James Lindsay Johnson, age 70, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at St. Joseph Campus. A native of Mecklenburg County, he was the son of the late James Donald Johnson, Sr. and Edith Phibbs Johnson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Stokes Johnson, who died in 2006. Jim was a United States Navy Veteran and a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. He served at the Baptist Children's Home for 21 years. Jim was an ordained minister and served as an associate Pastor for 3 1/2 years at Dellwood Baptist Church. Jim loved the Lord and left this world sharing God's word. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Vivian Wilson Johnson; a son, Tim Johnson and his wife, Dawn, of Waynesville; a sister, Becky Shuford and her husband, Dr. William Ferrell, of Wilmington, NC; two brothers, James Donald Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Waynesville and William Johnson and his wife, Thelma, of Bastrop, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Savannah , Mackenzie and Julianna Johnson and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Ridgeway Baptist Church with Reverend Jack W. Collins and Reverend Bobby Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the church. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Friendship, South Carolina, with Reverend C.F. McDowell and Reverend Bobby Rogers officiating.
