Reverend Solomon Queen, age 94, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Tsali Care Center. A native of Swain County, he was a son of the late Simpson and Sallie Queen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by is wife, Lola McCoy Queen, who died in 2002; and a daughter, Louella Queen. Solomon was a pastor in several churches in the Cherokee and Bryson City area as well as in Western North Carolina. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by two sons, Rick Queen and his wife, Mara, and Ernest David Queen and his wife, Mildred, all of Cherokee; three step children; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Cherokee with the Reverend Bo Parris and the Reverend Danny Conseen officiating. Burial will follow at Birdtown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.
