Reverend Willett

Waynesville, Reverend Wayne John Willett, age 81, of McLean Lane, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at his residence. A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late Raymond and Elsie Plemmons Willett. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Brooks and Thenia Queen and a brother, Reverend Ray Willett. Wayne was a graduate of Fruitland Bible Institute, Seminary Extension Department. He pastored eight churches and served as interim at 12. Reverend Willett was a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen McLean Willett; two sons, David Willett and his wife, Deanna of Waynesville and Terry Willett and his wife, Fayrene, of Kandern, Germany and six grandchildren, Patrick, Farrah, Tasha, John-Claude, Olivia and Ian Willett. Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Calvary Road Baptist Church with Reverend John H. Swanger, III and Reverend Mark Golden officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service. Burial will be at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Serving as pallbearers will be A.J. Plemmons, Roy Haynes, Patrick Willett, John-Claude Willett, Ian Willett and Ethan Henderson. Memorials may be made to Calvary Road Baptist Church Mission Fund, 77 Sutton Loop, Waynesville, NC 28786.
