Rev. J. C. Thomas, 83, of Ellenboro, NC went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 surrounded by his family.
He was born November 15, 1937 to the late Cas and Bess Shelton Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, David Scott Thomas, grandson, Brandon Thomas, two brothers and a sister.
A native of Madison County, he had resided in Buncombe County for most of his life before moving to Rutherford County in 2007.
Over the years, Rev. Thomas served as Pastor of numerous churches in Buncombe County and was currently the Pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Forest city. He retired after twenty-three years of service with Christ School in Arden.
Rev. Thomas is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Lance Thomas: three sons, Jeff Thomas and his wife, Judy of Bostic, NC, Kenny Thomas & his wife, Denise of Asheville, Ricky Thomas and his wife, Tanya of Ellenboro, NC; one sister, Alma Plemmons of Asheville; two brothers, Lon Thomas of Stecoa, NC and Nick Thomas of Fort Mill, SC; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 24, 2020 in the Mausoleum Chapel of Wells Funeral Home at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Reverends Doug Jones, Donald Hare and Andrew Thomas will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 AM. Entombment will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
