Rex Belcher

December 6, 1947 — April 1, 2004

Leicester-Rex Hugh Belcher, age 56, died Thursday, April 1, 2004 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was the son of Mary Sue Shope Belcher of Leicester and the late Clyde Hugh Belcher who died in 2001.
He was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church. Rex was a NASCAR fan and loved to go camping.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother, Ray Belcher of Dacula, GA, three nephews and one niece.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. Reverend Jack W. Collins, Reverend Dennis Thurman and Reverend Johnny Tiller will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Belcher, Jack Hawkins, Doyce Burnette, Kevin Shope, Rex Jones, Brandon Belcher and Grady Parris.
