Rex Lester Plemmons, 64, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014. Family, friends and members of the Candler community were deeply saddened to hear of the death of their beloved friend, Rex. A lifelong member of the Candler community Rex was the loving son of the late Bruce Plemmons and Genevieve Welch Plemmons. He was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church, and was employed by Evergreen Packaging. Rex had countless friends. If you met him once you were no longer simply an acquaintance, but a lifelong friend. To know him, was to love him. He never hesitated to lend his support to those he knew, and many who didn't know him at all. He touched so many lives in an unforgettable way. Rex loved people in a way that made them feel as if they were each special to him, and truly there was nothing that he wouldn't do to try and help them. It was an honor to know him and he will be deeply, deeply missed. Rex is survived by his sister, Marlene Cole and her husband, Dennis, of Canton; his beloved niece, Bronwyen Cole McCracken and husband, Nick, and his great- niece, Brenna Elizabeth McCracken, whom he adored. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday September 10, 2014, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Children's Cancer Society, 500 North Broadway, Suite 800, St. Louis, MO 63102.
