Richard Caldwell

Waynesville, Richard Caldwell, age 83, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Mission Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late France and Anna Mae Brown Caldwell. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Gertude McDaniel and Ima Jean Mehaffey and three brothers, Perry Lewis, Kyle and Fred Boone Caldwell. He was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and retired from Lea Industries. Richard was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed bluegrass music and his grandchildren. He is survived by a son, Darien Caldwell (Nicole) of Waynesville; a sister, Joyce Queen (Bill) of Waynesville; and two grandchildren, Cody and Marissa Caldwell. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Caldwell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
