Waynesville-Richard Henry Holman, age 81, died on Thursday, November 29, 2006 at his residence. A native of St. Augustine, Florida, he had resided in Haywood County for the past 20 years. He was the son of the late George N. and Mary R. Williams Holman and was also preceded in death by a son, Rickey Holman, and a daughter, Tyra Sue Holman. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a funeral service licensee and later worked as a general manager of The Record Press. Richard retired in 1976 after 20 years service with The Exchange Bank, currently known as Wachovia, where he served as assistant vice president and vice president. A past president of the Kiwanis Club of St. Augustine, he was also a past president of St. John's County Welfare Board, and a member of Ashlar Lodge No. 98 F&AM. He was a member of Peachtree United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Holman and a sister, Dorris H. Macklin and her husband, John, of Smithfield, VA. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2006 at Peachtree United Methodist Church.
