Richard Howell

Richard W. Howell, 86, of Asheville, passed away Thursday, November 03, 2011. A native of Belmont, NC, he was a son of the late Daniel and Essie Carter Howell. Rick served as a Combat Engineer in the Army during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Collier Howell.
He is survived by his children, Doug Howell and wife, Debbie, of Asheville, Teresa Strickland and husband, David, of TN, Cheryl Mathis and husband, Roger, of Candler and Rhonda Green and husband, Chris, of Candler; brother, Jack Howell, and wife, Peggy, of SC; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10AM on Saturday, November 5th in the Chapel of Faith at Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn, with the Rev. Matthew J. Leonard officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler with Military Honors.
