Richard Alan Jefferys

Richard A. Jefferys, age 80 passed away peacefully at home, with his wife Bari Lynn by his side, on Sunday, January 14^th, 2024.

Richard was born in Kingwood, West Virginia to Woodford and Opal Jefferys on August 13, 1943.  After living and working in Ohio most of his life, he retired to North Carolina in 2006.  He and his wife enjoyed making new friends and exploring the beautiful Smoky Mountains.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, he enjoyed family trips, watching his favorite westerns on tv and most of all serving his Lord and his church.

He is survived by his wife Bari Lynn of 43 years.  Sons, Scott (Trish) of Peoria, AZ, Christopher (Nancy) of Buckeye, AZ and Joshua of Angier, NC.  Brothers, Charles (Bonnie) of Oakwood, OH and Woody of Elyria Twp, OH, sister, Sharon Jarrett (Tim) of Summerfield, FL.  He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, all much loved.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Woodford and Opal Jefferys as well as his sister, Pamalla Sivnksty.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 18^th 4-6 pm at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville and the funeral at 11 am on Friday, January 19^th with Pastor Paul Hensley officiating. Interment will follow at Garrett – Hillcrest Cemetery in Waynesville.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Four Seasons Hospice for the loving care given to Richard.
