Richard Jones, Jr.

Waynesville-Richard O. "Dick" Jones, Jr., age 66, of 236 Precious Metal Drive, died on March 17, 2006 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Richard O. and Martha Caldwell Jones. He was a retired construction supervisor with Duke Power and retired in 1994 with 27 years service. He enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, and fishing. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Farmer of Waynesville and Sandra Silvers of Clyde; two sons, Richard O. Jones, III of Maiden, NC and Roy Jones of Lincolnton; two sisters, JoAnn Turner and Gladys Messer, both of Waynesville; a very special friend, Linda Green Paxton; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Bobby Downs officiating. Burial will follow at Allison Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike and Randy Turner, Jackie Leatherwood, Tim, Dwayne, and Dennis Messer, and Max Palmer. Honorary pallbearers will be Manzie, Andy, Walt, Thurman, and Jack Caldwell.
