Richard Millsaps

March 10, 1948 — November 9, 2015

"Stick Man" Robbinsville – Richard B. Millsaps, age 67, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at Charles George VA Medical Center. A native and resident of Graham County, he was a son of Lola Loumanda Edwards Millsaps and the late James "Jim" Bright Millsaps. Richard was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was employed by the United States Forest Service. He was known to many as "the stick man." Richard made beautiful walking and tobacco sticks that have been sold nationwide. He will be remembered for his excellent craftsmanship in wood working. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jane Davis Millsaps; one daughter, Mandy Sharpe (Eddie); two sons, Shawn Millsaps (Beth) and Shane Millsaps (Connie); one sister, Annette Stiles (Tim); one brother, David Millsaps (Margaret); four grandchildren, Caiden Sharpe, Ashton Nichols, Ryan and Megan Millsaps; one great-grandchild, Ally Nichols; a niece, Caroline Stiles; and a nephew, Jess Millsaps. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with Dr. Richard Davis and the Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. Memorials may be made to the Charles George VA Medical Center Hospice Unit, 1100 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805.
