Waynesville, Richard "Dick" Tupper, age 68, of Morning Mist Lane, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at his residence. A native of Madison, Wisconsin, he moved to Orlando, Florida in 1983 and had resided in Haywood County for the past three years. He was the son of the late George William and Dorothy A. Anderson Tupper and was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Manders. He was a US Army veteran and was employed by Christensen Financial, Inc. as a mortgage broker. Dick was an avid golfer and enjoyed riding his Harley and showing his 1978 corvette at shows. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Julie Coombs Tupper; two sons, David Tupper of Madison, Wisconsin and Douglass Tupper of Casa Grande, Arizona; three daughters, Mary Gehling and her husband, James, of Summerville, South Carolina, Lori Soto of St. Cloud, Florida, and Jill Olson and her husband, Nate, of Saukville, Wisconsin; two sisters, Joan Derra of Madison, Wisconsin and Donna Derra of Marshall, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Richard Tupper, Justin and Katie Gehling, Tony Mulero, Alex and Esai Martinez, Alani Soto, and Natalie Olson. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 21, 2010 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Starnes officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. There will be a celebration of his life at the Tupper residence after the service.
