Richard Woodruff

Richard Merlin "Dick" Woodruff, age 79, of Cortland Court, died on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at his residence. A native of Hart, Michigan, he was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Cecil and Velma Tripp Woodruff and his second wife, Alice P. Woodruff, who died in 2000. He was a veteran and served in the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. Dick attended Western Michigan University and was a real estate broker. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, and traveling and was a member of First Baptist Church of Maggie Valley and was involved in Maggie Valley Nutrition Site. He is survived by his wife of three years, Judy Marcus Woodruff; one son, Terry Woodruff and wife, Nancy, of Lexington, KY; two daughters, Sherry Wright and husband, Shelby, of Palm Desert, CA and Merry Woodruff, of Merritt Island, FL; three stepdaughters, Kathy Bostrom and husband, Rolf, and Jeanne Whitted and husband, Andy, of Sarasota, FL and Rebba Brandt and husband, Jody, of Waynesville; four step-sons, David Oliver and wife, Gloria, of Hope Sound, FL, Steve Oliver and wife, Rhonda, of Gilbert, AZ, Tony Marcus and wife, Rebecca, of Canton, and Jeff Marcus of Waynesville; twenty grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Maggie Valley with Reverend Ricky Mason officiating. Interment will be at Palms Memorial Park in Sarasota, FL. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
