Waynesville-Richard P. Yeager, age 77, of Wayneview Drive died Sunday, June 17, 2007. A native of Scarsdale, NY, Mr. Yeager had lived in New Jersey until moving to Haywood County nine years ago. He was the son of the late Leland and Alice Bennett Yeager. He graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine and was owner of King Richard's Men's Apparel in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey for 25 years. He was a member of Grace Church in the Mountains and was active in his community through clubs and organizations including the American Legion Post 47 and VFW Post 5202. Mr. Yeager loved fishing and playing with his granddaughters who affectionately called him "Bops". He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lois Hovorka Yeager, two daughters, Lee Yeager May of Chapel Hill, NC and Gail Yeager LeNoble of Miami, FL, one brother, Leland Bennett Yeager of Auburn, AL and 5 granddaughters: Emily, Abby and Megan May, Chelsea and Aly LeNoble. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007 at Grace Church in the Mountains with the Reverend Joan Vella officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Pantry at Grace Church in the Mountains, 394 N. Haywood Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
