Ricky Edwards

Waynesville, Ricky Dale Edwards, age 45, of 17 Scotts Drive, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at his residence. A native of Cherokee County, he lived most of his life in Haywood County and was the son of the late Cora Sue DeHart and was also preceded in death by a sister, Penny Wishon. Rick enjoyed spending time with his family and friends playing pool and was a devoted family man. He loved his children dearly and was actively involved in their lives. He was also dedicated to his work as a carpenter and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Susan Edwards; a son, Shaun Edwards of Clyde; one daughter, Jessica Edwards of Clyde; two brothers, Danny Edwards of Oregon and Jamie Wishon of High Point; several aunts and uncles as well as many nieces and nephews; a special great nephew and great niece, Evan and Riley Smith, and his beloved companion pit bull, "Domique." Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2011 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby and Reverend Alan Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ray McCullough, Randy Stinnette, Adam and Jason Warren, Shaun Edwards, Mark Underwood, and Darren Caldwell. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and at other times at the residence. Memorials may be given to the family.
