Ricky Lyall

Lake Junaluska, Ricky Lane Lyall, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Wilkes County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Roscoe Guy and Stella Fay Miller Lyall.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Caudill.  Ricky spent his entire career in law enforcement and retired from North Carolina DMV Enforcement as an Inspector. Most recently, Ricky worked as a deputy with the Haywood County Sheriff’s Department. When not serving his community, his passions were playing golf, spending time with his family, and most especially spoiling his grandchildren.

Ricky is survived by two sons, Joseph Lyall, and his wife, Laurie and Caleb Lyall, and his wife, Kelly; three grandchildren, Andrew, Addie and Aiden, all of Charlotte; sister, Peggy Smithey, and her husband, Roger, of Millers Creek, North Carolina; dear friend, Janice Grasty of Waynesville; brother-in-law, Bobby Caudill of North Wilkesboro; niece, Carla Royal; and two nephews, Derick Smithey and Jeff Caudill; and multiple great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021, in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ricky’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
