Canton-Robert Vinson Cable, age 75 died Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at Brian Center of Waynesville.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was a son of the late George "Pat" and Elva Crisp Cable. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Sheppard Cable who died in 1977 and 3 brothers, Evan, Neil and Tommy Cable. He retired from Champion International in 1993 with 41 years of service. Mr. Cable was a member of North Canton Baptist Church and was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Viola Mae Duran Cable of the Brian Center of Waynesville, two daughters and their husbands, Dawn and Terry Kile of Canton and Lisa and Jim Prowell of Weaverville, two step-sons and their wives, Kenneth and Karen Hyatt of Springdale, Arkansas and Samuel and Melissa Hyatt of Gainesville, GA, two sisters, Patsy Cable Swanger of Pisgah Forest, NC and Clara Cable Metcalf of Canton, five brothers, Charles Cable of Pisgah Forest, NC, Roy and Fred Cable of Bryson City, NC, Wiley and Ben Cable of Canton, 3 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Keith Clark officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
