Robert Franklin Cody, 87, of Asheville, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014. A native of Asheville, he was a son of the late William and Esther Ball Cody. Robert served as a Seabee, a branch of the Navy, during World War II in Okinawa, Japan. He was a fiddle player and was one to the first to be featured on WNC Radio. He worked as a typeset printer for Asheville Citizen Times as well as Greenville News.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Pegg Cody and son, Michael Ray Cody.
He is survived by his children, Patricia Cody McMinn, David Quentin Cody and James Cody of Arlington, VA and grandchildren, Kellen Cody, Christy Hall, Michael Ray Cody, Jr. and Josh Cody.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, June 7th at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.
