Robert B. Curren, 79, of Maggie Valley passed away at Haywood Regional Medical Center on March 9, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ethel Curren, and his first wife, Paula Almeida Curren.
Bob graduated from Atlantic Union College in Massachusetts, setting the foundation for a remarkable career. He served as treasurer at Mount Pisgah Academy in Candler for 20 years and then as the Chief Financial Officer at Florida Hospital University for 16 years, where his expertise and leadership were highly respected. Bob’s commitment to his work was matched only by his dedication to his family and faith.
A proud member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Bob was deeply involved in his church community, sharing his joy for service and fellowship with others. His faith was a guiding light in his life, and he cherished the relationships formed through his church activities.
Outside of his professional and spiritual commitments, Bob was known for his love of travel and his passion for watching the New York Yankees. An avid golfer, he enjoyed spending countless hours on the greens, sharing laughter and friendly competition with friends. Most importantly, Bob loved spending time with his grandkids and cherished the moments spent creating memories with them. His family was his pride and joy, and their happiness brought him immense fulfillment.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Pat Bishop Curren; his daughters, Debra Murdoch (Monty) and Dawna Stubbert (Eric); and his stepsons, John Patterson and Anthony Patterson (Melinda). He also leaves behind his cherished sisters, Lottie Doughty and Mary Curren, as well as seven beloved grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 pm Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Mount Pisgah SDA Church, 21 Academy Dr., Candler, NC. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to service time.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Waynesville SDA Church, Budget Reserve, 119 Hampshire Dr, Waynesville, NC 28786.
Bob’s legacy of love, service, and dedication will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
The care of Mr. Curren has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville
