Maggie Valley, Robert Clifton "Bob" Ferguson, 94, of Soco Road passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017 at The Homestead. A native of Salem County, New Jersey, he had lived in Haywood County since 1940. He was the son of the late Charles Boone and Nannie Pearl Turner Ferguson and was also preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Cogdill Ferguson, who died in 1997; two sisters, Edith Roveano and Betty Bell; and four brothers, Jack, Gilbert, Claude and Charles Ferguson. Bob was the owner of Bob Ferguson Sealtest Distributors for Sealtest Dairy Products and former co-owner of Haywood Hardware at Lake Junaluska. He was a member of Maggie Valley United Methodist Church. He was a Mason and Past Master of Waynesville Masonic Lodge #259 AF&AM, Past Worthy Patron of Order of the Eastern Star Waynesville Chapter #165. He is survived by two sons, Rick Ferguson and his wife, Patty, of Spruce Pine and Tom Ferguson of Asheville; a sister, Margaret Shelton of Canton; two grandchildren, Robert T. Ferguson (Kristy) and Heath Maki (Paul) all of Asheville; and two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Michael Ferguson. A celebration of Bob Ferguson's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 10, 2017 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Erma Bond and Reverend Richard Buff officiating with Masonic rites following. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
