Robert Gaddis

Robert Joseph "Bob" Gaddis, age 76, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, January 31, 2014 at The Homestead in Clyde. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Fain Asbury and Clora Grooms Gaddis. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Messer Gaddis who died on December 7, 2013 and a son, Joseph Fain Gaddis who died in 1979. He retired from BASF and was a member of Center Pigeon Baptist Church. Bob had a genuine love for music which included playing the guitar, piano and accordion. Bob found joy by living his life in service of others. He is survived by two daughters, Keva Gaddis Wilson and her husband, Gary, of Sharpsburg, Georgia; and Lora Gaddis Sherrill and her husband, David, of Clyde; a sister, Grace Jimison of Canton; a brother, George Gaddis of Canton; five granddaughters, Dana Gaddis, Lauren Wilson Nelms, Haley Wilson Evans, Alex and Katie Sherrill; and three great-grandchildren, Daniel, Jada, and Eli. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2104 at Center Pigeon Baptist Church with the Reverend Allen Blanton Reverend Kenneth Ingle, Reverend R. G. Garland, and Reverend Dr. J.D. Grant officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 3:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
