Maggie Valley, NC-Robert Hill Hosch, Sr., age 63, formally of Orlando, Florida, died Saturday, August 31, 2002 at Memorial Mission Hospital, Owen Heart Center, Asheville, NC.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida on March 11, 1938, he was the son of the late Arthur Bert and Bessie DeLoach Hosch. He was a member of the Orlando, Florida Masonic Lodge 69 AF & AM and attended Maggie Valley Baptist Church.
In 1961 he founded United Seal Systems, Inc., which he operated as sole owner until sold in 1977. Subsequently, he and his wife owned and operated Lake Whippoorwill Resorts Campground and Remote Control Speedway until 1995. They resided in Astor, Florida until December of 2000 when they purchased their current home in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. He was an avid golfer, loved his computer and had a passion for Harley Davidson Motorcycles. But most of all, he was devoted to his wife, family and friends and was loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Yvonne Altman Hosch; one daughter, Cherie Burke, of Plantsville, Connecticut; two sons, Robert (Buzz) Hill Hosch, Jr. and his wife Andrea, of Orlando, Florida and Robert Scott Hosch and his wife Gail, of Clermont, Florida; four sisters, Dorothy Miller, of San Antonio, Texas, Mittie Tompkins, of Jacksonville, Florida, Margaret Wilson and LaBlanche Browning, both of Orlando Florida; ten grandchildren, Shawn, Aaron, Cary, Jonathan, Corey, Tyler, Kyle, Patrick, Shannon and Jessie; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home, 296 N. Main Street. The Reverend Chuck Sojack and Mr. David Dallas will officiate, followed by a Masonic memorial service conducted by the Waynesville Masonic Lodge 259 AF & AM. Refreshments and visitation will follow at Snappy's Italian Restaurant in Maggie Valley.
Starting at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a police escort will be provided for the last motorcycle drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, prior to the memorial service at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville. The group will meet at the Ghost Town Parking Lot in Maggie Valley and conclude the ride at the funeral home.
