Robert Hyatt

Waynesville, Robert Alna Hyatt, age 92, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Harris Regional Hospital.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Rufus Bedford and May Rogers Hyatt. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Jane Ferguson Hyatt; five sisters, Helena Allen, Ina Frady, Bernice Carter, Jincie Ferguson, Georgia Williams and one brother, Allen Hyatt. Alna was employed by Dayco Corporation for 43 years, as a millwright. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting. After retirement most of his time was spent farming with his son. Throughout the years the usual place to find him was at home, sitting on the porch with family and friends. Alna was a member of Allen's Creek Baptist Church and received the honor of Deacon Emeritus in 2009.

Alna is survived by his son, Robert E. Hyatt (Debbie), daughter, Martha King; sister, Flora Glavich; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Allen's Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Scotty Patrick and Reverend Patrick Womack officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends to 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
